About Bamboo Fabric

Not everyone is going to believe that soft fabrics can be made from bamboo. And even if they do they wont understand how it has been made. So we have put together a small snippet of how the fabric is made to give you a better understanding.

THE BAMBOO PLANT

The bamboo required to make the fibers grow in China.

EXTRACTION OF PULP

The bamboo is then broken down and converted into a pulp

CELLULOSE

The pulp is later dissolved to make the cellulose. It is done under sustainable conditions.

BAMBOO VISCOSE FIBERS

The cellulose is later regenerated into viscose fiber. That is why bamboo fiber is also called as regenerated bamboo fiber.

BAMBOO FIBER YARN

The fiber is then brought to India and spun into yarn as per our requirements.

WEAVING OF THE FABRIC

Once we have got the yarn it is then weaved or knitted into our fabrics and garments. It may be weaved together with cotton in some instances.

DYEING

Depending on the product the cloth may be dyed before weaving or after weaving. None of the colors are reach any of the rivers since the ph content of the dyes are brought to neutral and later used to in the gardens.

FINISHED PRODUCT

The fabrics are then completed as per the specifications and design/size requirements.

STRAIGHT TO YOU

It is then sent to the dispatch center and packed in eco friendly packaging ready to be dispatched straight to you.

About Us

It all started in June 2019 with a simple want for crafting alternatives for our day-to-day essentials that would not harm the environment. Realization struck that we use products like toothbrushes, towels and so many other things so mindlessly without thinking where they come from, and how they go, or do they ever go? The idea was to make and offer valuable substitutes of superior quality, sustainable products to essentials that every single person uses every day. Hailing from Manipur, the founder, surrounded by Bamboo plantations realized that Bamboo would be an incredible substitute raw material for non-biodegradable daily essentials. The nature inspired us to make a difference, hence the name – Madake, after a Japanese Bamboo plant called Madake also known as Phyllostachys bambusoides.

With our resources depleting rapidly due to centuries of exploitation, shifting to sustainable resources seems like the only feasible way to control this problem.

At Madake, with quality being our rule of thumb, we aim to develop innovative, state of the art environment friendly products to anyone who prioritizes premium quality and sustainability.

Founder's Story

Vidit Patni

In 2019, coming from the hotel industry background back to his hometown Manipur from Chennai, then 22 year old Vidit decided to start a business that in no way would harm the environment. Sitting at his father’s ‘Water pumps’ shop in Manipur, in the middle of a drought, realization struck that while no one would even buy a submersible water pump which would go 30 feet below the ground a few years ago, people had started to dig 600 feet below to look for water. A beautiful place like Manipur blessed with nature was now finding it difficult to find water, one of the major reason for this being the functioning of businesses and industries. The bamboo seed was planted at that moment and the search for a sustainable business idea began.

Someone who grew up surrounded by trees, having lived in Manipur and did his schooling is Assam, Vidit is an environmentalist who has always been inspired by nature.

Being brought up close to nature and working in the Luxury hospitality industry, Vidit’s background of environment and luxury translates to Madake, where the focus is on providing top notch, state of the art, quality products that would not harm the environment.
